With over thirty-five years of experience in semiconductors, he currently oversees all aspects of Verilab's operations Prior to Verilab, Tommy held positions in applications engineering, chip design, R&D, and product marketing at Motorola in Scotland. He also spent time as a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Glasgow. Tommy holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh.
One of Verilab's three co-founders, Jason is an expert in functional verification and in the application of software solutions to hardware problems. He has led Verilab's services design and deployment since the company was formed in 2000, and as a recognized thought leader in complex systems verification, he continues to personally consult with many of Verilab's largest clients in both Europe and North America. Prior to Verilab, Jason held various engineering positions at BAE Systems in Scotland, and Dense-Pac Microsystems in California. He has over thirty years experience in semiconductors. He holds a Masters degree in Digital Systems Engineering from the University of Heriot Watt, Edinburgh.
Mark co-founded Verilab in 2000, with Tommy Kelly and Jason Sprott. Combining his over thirty years of experience in both design and verification of large digital systems, with a rare ability to help others achieve mastery of this complex field, Mark leads Verilab's "Peopleware" initiative. Mark's total experience in semiconductors runs to over thirty-five years. Prior to Verilab, he worked in FPGA and ASIC design and verification at GEC Marconi and Motorola, both in Scotland. A graduate of Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Mark holds a First in Electrical Engineering.
Vanessa Cooper joined Verilab in 2011. In addition to her work helping clients directly with functional verification challenges, she has been responsible for managing Verilab's operations in North America. A sought-after speaker, she has published at several conferences and is the author of "Getting Started with UVM: A Beginner's Guide". She has participated in conference management in various roles, and was the General Chair for US DVCon 2021. Prior to Verilab, Vanessa held engineering and client support positions at Freescale Semiconductor and at Cadence Design Systems. She has over twenty-five years of experience in the industry. Vanessa holds a PhD in Computer Science from Nova Southeastern University, and an MBA from LeTourneau University.
Ken is one of the first employees of Verilab, joining the company a few months after it was founded in 2000 and playing a key role in its growth including spearheading the creation of our Munich team. With almost 40 years in the semiconductor industry, Ken's experience ranges across an extensive range of application domains and technologies and he assists clients as both an individual expert, and in the planning and management of entire projects. Verilab was founded in 2000 by Tommy Kelly, Jason Sprott and Mark Litterick in Scotland. The company's primary objective was to address the growing complexity and challenges of hardware verification, in the field of semiconductor design.
In its early years, Verilab offered consulting services and training to companies in need of specialized expertise in the field of design verification. As digital systems and designs became increasingly complex, there was a growing demand for efficient verification methodologies and expert verification engineers. Verilab worked with the semiconductor companies building silicon chips and the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) companies, who provided leading edge simulation tools and solutions.
Over time, Verilab expanded its service offerings and team of experts. In 2003 Verilab opened offices in both Munich Germany and Austin Texas USA, establishing an international presence. The Canadian office was opened in 2011, based in Montreal. In 2022, Verilab opened its latest office in Belgrade Serbia.
